Recipe Ingredients

4 lemons
4 oranges
6 wooden skewers, soaked in water 1 hour
1/4 cup liquid honey 60 mL
Salt
2 1/2 cups Compliments White Cranberry Cocktail, chilled 625 mL
2 1/2 cups medium dry white wine, chilled 625 mL
1 cup Compliments Carbonated Mineral Water, chilled 250 mL
3 cups ice cubes 750 mL
6 sprigs fresh thyme
 

Recipe Directions

  1. Preheat barbecue to high heat, clean grill well and lightly oil grill.
  2. Slice one lemon and one orange into ½-inch (1 cm) thick slices. Skewer the citrus slices between the 6 skewers. Cut remaining citrus fruits in half.
  3. Grill citrus slices until caramelized and marked on both sides, about 2 minutes per side; remove. Grill citrus halves cut side down until well-caramelized and warm, 5 to 8 minutes.
  4. Squeeze and strain the juice from the grilled halves into a pitcher. Stir in honey and a pinch of salt until dissolved. Add cranberry cocktail, wine, carbonated water and ice. To serve, put a citrus swizzle stick and a thyme sprig in each glass.
