3 ways with mixed nuts

Here’s why Compliments Deluxe Mixed Nuts should be your go-to party snack this season.

Savoury nut brittle

Surprise and delight your family with this savoury version of a classic sweet, made with just three ingredients. To prepare, combine 1 cup roughly chopped mixed nuts and 2 cups finely shredded cheddar cheese. Arrange in a thin single layer on a parchment paper–lined baking sheet; top with 1 tbsp thyme leaves. Bake at 350°F until light golden, about 20 minutes, being careful not to overcook. Let cool completely; break into pieces. Serve as a flavourful addition to an appetizer table for a party snack or offer as a garnish.

Crunchy nut topping

When mixed nuts are already roasted to perfection, use them to make the perfect garnish! Whether sweet or savoury, dessert, side, or main, almost any dish can be amped up with a sprinkle of warm chopped nuts. Think beans, Brussels sprouts, stuffing, or stuffed mushrooms. Spoon them over vanilla ice cream or onto sliced apple pie, pumpkin pie or bread pudding—the options are endless!

Eggnog-spiced nuts

Enjoy classic eggnog flavoured spiced nuts! A little secret to making perfectly spiced nuts? Use a whipped egg white as glue. Mix 1 egg white with 4 cups mixed nuts, 3 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tbsp vanilla, 1 tsp nutmeg, and 1 tsp cinnamon. Toss thoroughly, then bake on a parchment paper–lined baking sheet at 300°F until dried, about 30 minutes. Let cool completely. Make bundles for a lovely gift or just serve them up as part of your dessert table selection!
